Juventus Football Club, often referred to simple as Juve, is Turin’s crown jewel. Juve have been in Serie A throughout their entire history in Italian football, not including the 2006-07 season when a corruption scandal sent them careening momentarily down to Serie B. Juventus were promoted back to Serie A immediately, winning Serie B easily with their galaxy of world class football stars.

Founded as Sport Club Juventus in late 1897 they were renamed as Football Club Juventus in 1899. Juventus became part of the Italian Football Championship in 1900, and won their first league title in 1905, when the Velodromo Umberto I was their home stadium. As is often the case in the early days of the cub, a split occurred in 1906, when talk of relocating to somewhere outside Turin caused President Alfredo Dick and some of the players to found FBC Torino, Juve’s fierce rivals in the city today. It is a common finding that some of the bitterest rivalries in football exist between teams who were once one and the same. This intimate history ramps up the pressure and Juventus tickets will always be snapped up fast for the big derby against Torino.

The most successful team in Italian football history, Juventus hold 51 major trophies, 40 of which are Italian domestic trophies, more than any other team in their country, and 11 in European and world competitions. Only two other European football teams have exceeded Juve’s record, and five in the world. The crazed crowds which flock to watch Juventus play are known throughout the world, and FC Juventus tickets are prized like gold. By 1985, Juventus had become the only team in the world to hold every international cup and championship in their historical trophy cabinet, and the legend grew even more.

Juventus play their home games at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino at the moment, due to structural changes at their home, the Stadio delle Alpi. Next year, 2008, the team they call the “Old Lady” will return to their spiritual home, where they are expected to challenge the Milanese grip on league honours.

Juventus’ phenomenal 11 million fans constitute between a quarter and a third of football supporters in Italy. Their 21 million supporters in Europe, added to fan clubs the world over, makes them one of the best supported football clubs in the world. Juventus enjoy a strong fan base in Southern Italy, with as many Juve fans attending away games as home games, creating a huge demand for Juventus tickets across the country.

Juventus ultras have a ferocious rivalry with the club they share Turin with, Torino. Whenever Juventus Torino tickets go on sale, they move fast and are soon swept up by the Ultras and other fans eager to watch their heroes play. Another important rivalry is with Inter Milan. This fixture is known as the Derby d’Italia (Derby of Italy), between the undisputed best supported teams in Italian football.

Juventus familiar black and white striped shirts have been their colours since 1903, when their original pink shirts had faded due to washing. Apparently, a Juventus player, Englishman John Savage, knew somebody in Nottingham, who shipped Nottingham County shirts out to Turin. And so the famous Juventus began their long careers in the black and white. Today, those with Juventus tickets can stand or sit in the Stadio Olimpico di Torino and watch these black and white warriors powering up and down the pitch, destroying their hapless opposition.
