The Euro 2008 football championships will be hosted by Austria and Switzerland, from 7 to 29 June 2008. Other joint bids to host the competition have also succeeded, including Belgium and the Netherlands hosting UEFA Euro 2000, and the Poland and Ukraine 2012 competition.

Sixteen of Europe’s best football teams will play in the much-awaited 2008 tournament, and football fans hungry for Euro 2008 tickets will be clamouring to see them all. Austria and Switzerland automatically qualify as hosts of the tournament, with Austria making its first ever appearance in the contest. The 14 other teams will have to qualify through the rounds which began in the summer of 2006. The Euro 2008 winners represent UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
