Bayern is a membership based club and has more than 132,000 members, the third largest in the world after SL Benfica and FC Barcelona.

The club began humbly, founded in 1900 by a Munich gymnastics club. They played their first games in the Bayern (Bavarian) league, and in 1926 they won the championship of southern Germany, a trophy they won again in 1928. Nationally, they achieved honor in 1932, winning the German championship with a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the final. They went on from these humble beginnings to be the dominant force in German soccer, where FC Bayern Munich tickets were worth their weight in gold.

Bayern Munich have won 4 European Champions League titles, 1 UEFA Cup title, and 1 Cup Winners’ Cup. Domestically, they have won 20 National Championships and 13 German Cups. With all this success, and the hordes of dedicated members, obtaining Bayern Munich tickets can be a daunting task for the outsider.

Bayern’s first famous stadium was the 1972 Munich Olympic Stadium. The stadium was used for the 1974 FIFA World Cup, and was in time expanded to a 63,000 capacity for domestic games, and 59,000 for internationals. Poor overhead cover was the reason Bayern decided to build another home, which they did in 2002, in conjunction with TSV 1860, another Munich soccer team. The Allianz Arena, on the northern edge of Munich, had an original capacity of 66,000 covered seats which was later increased to 69,900. Despite the increased capacity, Bayern tickets were still rare to find, and the club went from strength to strength.

From being a scuffler in the cold mud of Germany’s tough league, Bayern Munich has emerged as an international powerhouse in recent years, and their true rivals these days are not their Munich counterparts or the Berlin and Hamburg clubs. Bayern Munich is now a global name, and only the highest level competition is good enough for them.
